The official opening will be held on May 20 in the Great Hall of the 35mm cinema theatre. Festival program will start with the Nord—a highly acclaimed movie and a Berlinale FIPRESCI prize winner. Overall, Russian audience will have an opportunity to see 7 movies set by the leading Norwegian directors and representing different genres.
The event will also feature a number of exhibitions focused on Norway giving residents and guests of Moscow a unique opportunity to get a first-hand impression of Norwegian culture and film-making. All festival films will be shown in original language with Russian subtitles. The festival invited a special guest, Erlend Loe, who will present movies based on his “Tatt av Kvinen” (“Gone with the Woman”), “Kurt blir grusom” (“Kurt Turns Evil”) and “Nord” (“North”) novels.
“Russian audience has been showing growing interest towards Norway and Norwegian art over the last few years. We hope that this festival, showcasing the best movies recently produced in our country, will serve as a great present for all Russian movie lovers and will drive the cultural exchange between our nations,” said Ole Bjørn Sjulstad, Head of Telenor Russia.
