Telenor executives speak in this year's telecom forum in Moscow
Telenor Group's executives participated in Telecom 2009, an annual international forum for landline and mobile operators held by Vedomosti business daily in Moscow. This year, the forum took place on May 28 and 29, 2009 and gathered top managers of Russia's leading telecoms, public officials, and industry experts. Telenor Group has traditionally been the primary sponsor of this important discussion platform.
In his opening speech, Telenor Russia CEO Ole Bjørn Sjulstad said: "Telenor believes that the Russian telecom market has a big potential for improving the quality of mobile communication and client service, and introduction of new technologies. Frank Elter, Telenor Group's vice president for business development, made a presentation during the first session, which focused on market evolution amidst the downturn and the Russian government's new regulatory initiatives in the industry. Speaking about the nearest future of telecom business, Frank Elter said: "Telenor's efforts to develop and launch new services play a key role in the integration of our clients into global Internet communities that are currently emerging in the field of telecommunications."

This year, the event covered a wide range of issues specific to both fixed and wireless communications. This was the organisers' response to the prevailing market trend of creating diversified telecommunication operators that consolidate both of these segments. In addition to telecom operator and public executives, Telecom 2009 was attended by Internet providers and IT developers and manufacturers.
